Designed by the great Chicago architect E. Hill Turnock, Ruthmere was built during the early 20th century as the residence and guest house for wealthy mogul Albert R. Beardsley. Today, the estate has been converted to a scenic museum offering a peek at the architecture, art and furnishings of an affluent family at the turn of the century. It lies just north of downtown, across the river from Island Park and southwest of High Dive Park.
